Now into its fifth year, the 2012 Pakistan Fashion Design Council’s Sunsilk Fashion Week kicked off with a bang in Lahore’s Expo Center, April 13th.
Famous Pakistani designers from around the country displayed the creations and visions of the future. Pakistani designer clothes are taking on a shape of their own and span the spectrum from western influenced couture to traditional and more modest eastern harmonies.
Preliminary press conferences were made by notables of the domestic and international fashion industry such as Mr. Avais Mazhar, a founding board member of the PFDC, Mrs. Sehyr Saigol, Chairperson of the PFDC Executive Committee and World Fashion Organisation founder Jaco De Jamies. The show then opened with the latest pret a porter collection from sister act Nickie Nina.

Inspired by their father of military background, it featured bright colors such as yellow, orange, golden with clean military tailoring lines.
If its kurtis and tunics you are looking for, then Zara Shahjan’s collection fits the bill. Her pret a porter collection entitled ‘Pretty Please’ is specifically designed for the Pakistani consumer looking for wearable high fashion.
Introducing a womenswear collection form 2012/2013, this signature collection from MUSE featured pakistani clothes worked with delicate sequins in animal prints as well geometric patterns. Flowing trousers with shirts that are easy to wear were the call of the day.
Sticking with the more traditional pakistani clothes look, renowned manufacturers and exporters of fabric, Nimsay Textiles presented a beautiful, trendy and appealing spring/ summer collection of shalwar kameez on day 2 of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2012.
Beaconhouse National University graduate Fahad Hussayn decided that his collection would be all about the yin and yang of black and white. Bold designs in striking contrast unleashed a monochromatic vision upon the attendees.
Ittehad Textiles showcased a classically Pakistani collection of lawn ensembles styled with silk embroidery, zari and stone embellishments. The House of Ittehad captivates fashionistas with its enchanting creations of lawn and chiffon stitched into fancy dupattas and long semi-formal frocks.
Fashion designer Akif Mahmood showcased his Spring/ Summer 2012 womenswear collection at day 2 of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2012 entitled ‘Glamazon’.
